Rondine Cittadella della Pace
Rondine Cittadella della Pace is a small medieval village located just a few kilometers from Arezzo, in Tuscany. Since 1997, it has been home to a one-of-a-kind global initiative promoting the creative transformation of conflict through dialogue among young people from war-torn or post-conflict countries.
A Peace Laboratory in the Heart of Tuscany
Through the Rondine Method, these young participants learn to manage conflict constructively while developing leadership and interpersonal skills. After completing the program, they return to their home countries as peace ambassadors, bringing with them a transformative experience that empowers them to become agents of change in their communities.
In 2020, the association was awarded the National Nonviolence Prize for its effective methodology in overcoming conflict through dialogue and understanding.
Founded by psychologist and university professor Franco Vaccari, the Rondine association was established with the goal of demonstrating that “the enemy is not a person, but an image.”
At the heart of the project is the International Student Residence – World House, where young people from conflict zones—such as the Caucasus, the Balkans, the Middle East, and Africa—live together for two years. They share daily life and academic pursuits, learning to understand one another and overcome mutual distrust.

Rondine is not only an educational project but also a beautiful destination. Overlooking a bend in the Arno River, the medieval village offers a peaceful and evocative atmosphere. The Church of Saints Peter and Paul and the remains of the old castle speak to the site's rich history, while the association’s ongoing activities make Rondine a living example of how peace can be built day by day.

Il Borro is a historic estate in the heart of Tuscany, located in the municipality of San Giustino Valdarno, between Arezzo and Florence. Originally built as a medieval castle in the 12th century, it has had various owners over the centuries, including the Dal Borro family, the Medici, and the Duke Amedeo of Aosta. In 1993, it was acquired by Ferruccio Ferragamo, son of the founder of the renowned fashion house, who began a meticulous restoration to return the estate to its former glory.
Today, Il Borro stands as a symbol of sustainability, fine art, and luxury hospitality. The estate spans 1,100 hectares, with 85 hectares dedicated to vineyards and 29 to olive groves. Its wine production is highly acclaimed, featuring award-winning labels such as the “Alessandro dal Borro” Syrah.
