Church of San Giovanni Battista
Nestled in the peaceful countryside, the Church of San Giovanni Battista is located in Gello Biscardo, a small hamlet of Castiglion Fibocchi.
Its origins are ancient, with records dating back to the 14th century, when it was listed as one of the subsidiary churches of the parish of San Quirico Sopr'Arno.
According to tradition, the church was built on the site of the former castle of Gello Biscardo, once owned by the powerful Ubertini family of Arezzo.
Today, the church features a single-nave layout and is adorned with late 18th-century stucco altars.
It was almost entirely rebuilt in the 19th century, yet retains the simple, intimate charm typical of rural churches.
Its exterior is notable for its gabled structure and distinctive three-arched bell gable, which enhances its understated elegance.
